![]() I put the cord back in after a few minutes, restart it to find BIOS has reset itself to default and given option: When I run the Windows setup USB for installing on the SSD, Yes the SSD does appear as an option I can select for installation and have done it multiple times - unsuccessfully.īut I will go now and try what you suggested above because its a new drive, But I know when Windows attempts to copy/unpack install files to the SSD (Step 2), thats when it will crash, no BSOD, No Error Message just Power down, then goes into a power cycle trying to restart - fans kick in, MB rear Leds flash on/off with fans until I eventually pull the cord. ![]() I see the Samsung NVMe SSD, I click on it and Windows pops with options - drive needs to be initialized would you like MBR or GPT? I choose GPT click ok - bang PC shuts down. I installed the brand new EVO 960 into M.2, unformated and uninitialized, I booted into Windows from the SATA drive, checked out the My Computer/This PC section - the SSD is not seen, so I go to "Manage" click on Storage > Disk Management I installed Windows 10 onto a mechanical SATA drive - this is working fine but a bit slow however its just for testing/diagnostic because I really want to install OS onto SSD for speed. I want to buy a second M.2 Samsung Evo 960 NVMe and test it to rule that out, but I have to order it and wait and wait in if its still buggy then Im just wasting coin. I believe this to be a hardware problem with either SSD, MB, RAM, CPU or PSU as, I have ruled out all possible software / bios config possibilities.Īny suggestions who or what needs to be returned for inspection its all brand new equipment ? It cant be seen in Bios when is in just UEFI mode. The drive can be seen in the bios when in UEFI Legacy mode I have tried different USB ports and USB sticks, I have tried both the Original Thumb media creator tool from Microsoft directly on USB and downloaded the ISO and used Rufus to create GRB UEFI install I have tried both Enable Windows 8.1/10 Bios Settings and Disable Win 7 and fast boot to no avail I tried installing Windows 10 in both UEFI + Legacy and just plain UEFI mode. ![]() I have swapped ram in and out, 1 stick, 2 sticks ![]() When I cold start the Bios seems to reset itself back to the default state. When I get to the Windows install select drive for install I can create and delete partitions as required but if I select format drive (or start an install) the computer shuts down, restarts and sits there flashing in a power up/down till I turn it off. Its brand new, but yes that is possible - I dont have any other drives available to test. ![]()
